We do accept new graduates into the program but require them to have completed one clinical affiliation in the area of specialty practice preferably three months in length.

The program is twelve months long.  It typically starts in July and runs through to the following June

How much mentoring will the resident receive?

The resident will receive mentoring each week.  On average there will be three to four hours of mentoring every week.  Both the resident and the primary mentor will assist in identifying patients, diagnoses, and topics to be mentored on. The majority of the mentoring will take place in the clinic however there will be some mentoring that occurs on the field of play.

How many hours per week will the resident work?

A typical work week for the resident will be 55-60 hours a week.   This will fluctuate depending on what sport you are assigned to. This includes 32-40 hours of direct patient care, 2-10 hours of didactics and independent study, 6-8 hours of teaching and 4 hours covering athletic events or the training room. The didactic hours will vary from quarter to quarter and are front-loaded to prepare the resident for the clinic.  The teaching will only occur every quarter, but in limited capacity fall winter and summer.
